Weekly Announcements

All head boys and girls coaches are required to complete the online exam covering the 2018-19 NFHS Swimming & Diving Rules Book. If you haven’t done this, DO IT NOW. Be sure to contact your school’s athletic director for instructions including your User ID and Password. Those coaches who do not receive a score of 90% or better must take a Test 2. If they do not score 90% or better on the Test 2, their school’s name will be published in the Activities Journal. Any school whose coaches do not complete an online test by December 7 will pay a fine of $25.

The KSHSAA Executive Board has established a consecutive five-day period (including December 25) where there shall be no school practice of interscholastic contests or activities. The Executive Board has set December 23-27, 2018 as the five-day moratorium for this school year. Students in Grades 7-12 may not be in member school owned or operated facilities during the Winter Moratorium for involvement in activities under the jurisdiction of the KSHSAA. Weight rooms may not be open for students in Grades 7-12. There shall be no group interscholastic activity practice either on or outside school premises under supervision of school employees. For more information, see page 6 of The KSHSAA December Journal.

Here’s a few reminders: The KSHSAA policy requires that cooperative agreement teams in quasi-team/individual sports (including swimming & diving) compete separately at postseason (state) competition. Leagues have the option of requiring cooperative teams to separate for league championship events. RELAY EVENT state qualifications must be achieved during the regular season by individual schools. In other words, if 3 students from School A and 1 student from School B swim together and earn a state qualifying time in a relay event, it cannot be used as an entry qualifying time for either school. For more information regarding cooperative agreements, be sure to review carefully the K-W (Winter Activities) Form signed and agreed to by each school in a coop agreement for boys swimming & diving and the K-S (Spring Activities) Form for girls swimming & diving.

Member schools may apply per KSHSAA Rule #4 - Olympic Development Program (ODP) for their athletes to swim in USA Swimming sanctioned meets. The letter must be signed by: Principal, Athletic Director, Scholastic Swim Coach, & Athlete. These meets will count towards the limit of 10 meets for a season.
